Devotional for Encouragement

A good friend (Jim Bolding) sent this to me after reading the last devotional, taken in his backyard…….

praiseful butterfly

I reflected on Romans 8:19-24……” The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.  For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope  that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.  We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.  Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.”

Even the butterfly awaits with great anticipation the return of the creator.   Even the butterfly cries out in praise to God, with graceful  expressions of gently opening wings.      God will be praised and glorified, with or without my participation, even through the movements and flight of a simple creature.

There was a time when that butterfly was wrapped up in an ugly cocoon where some incredible transformation took place on the inside.  He may not remember that season of bondage and the day of breaking free to be all that he could be unto the praise of His creator, but I remember that season in my own life.    Thank you, Lord, for transformed  life and the freedom to fly to your praise today.
