house

As we write our Christmas letter this year, we are thankful for God’s provision of a new home in Middletown, PA.   Our kids tagged it as a “holiday house” with it’s nice Christmas coloring.  We are already enjoying the extra room after a season in a one-bedroom apartment in Harrisburg.
It was a blessing to have help on the move…….we were able to both load and unload the budget truck in record time, thanks to some secret weapons (family and good friends at both ends).   As we were loading the final part of the truck I thought about how important it is to finish well.   Those last moments of packing required intentional strategizing to make sure the biggest things went in first and that the final bits of “stuff”were loaded to fit for the journey.
It also takes intentional strategizing to finish well in life’s journey, and secret weapons help----like people who show up by God’s appointing to coach us in the final touches to the Glory of God.  And we are most thankful for the secret weapon of God in the birth of Christ.   As penned in 1 Cor 2:7, “No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.”
Here are some of the big items and “secret weapons” of God’s provision that have helped us to finish this year fully packed with blessings in the journey and with hearts full of thanksgiving:
  •  Colter finished Army Bootcamp and is now in the Officer Candidate School with the National Guard.  He is also working on his Master’s Degree with the goal of a PhD program in Developmental Psychology.  Jordana continues to enjoy her work in pet care and the National Aquarium.
  •  Zachary continues in his studies at UMBC and is active in the National Guard.   He lives with his brother and sister-in-law in Baltimore.  Kerry, Zach’s girlfriend, enjoys her work as a dolphin trainer at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
  •  Kristi and Steve have answered a call out of the pastoral ministry and into a “spacious” ministry (2 Samuel 22:20; Job 36:16; Psalm 18:19, 31:8) as Steve serves as an Assistant to the District Superintendent with an emphasis in church development and advance.   They are enjoying the travels and the opportunity to be a part of equipping, resourcing, encouraging, coaching, and empowering the leaders and people of the great churches of the Eastern Pennsylvania District.  Kristi concluded her job at Bob Evans and is substitute teaching.

May the fullness of Christ be the secret weapon guiding your journey into the new year!
