A Diehling Devotional

Kristi and I were walking with friends in the downtown of a big city.     As we passed an expensive hotel, we noticed  a  bird hopping around inside the lobby.  His limp indicated an injury.   We stopped to open the tall glass doors, trying to help the poor creature.   We expected him to hop  toward freedom.   He surprised us, however, when he took one look at the open door and flew with every bit of energy he could muster into the freedom a glimpse of which he caught.    He must have had a joyful face as he zoomed by, from captivity to release.

I was reminded of a song we used to sing based on Ps 124:7-8…….
We have escaped like a bird
out of the fowler's snare;
The snare has been broken,
and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

Or the great proverb ……….

Prov 6:5
“Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hunter's hand
And like a bird from the hand of the fowler.”

Anything causing you to limp?   Stuck?    I pray that you’re able to  set your mind on things above and fix your heart and eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith.    I pray that you’re able to reach new heights in your walk with our Lord in the shadow of HIS wings and the grace of free flight.
