It’s amazing what a prepositional misunderstanding can
do. I had an appointment set up in Riverside,
California, recently. The email instructions indicated that I
was
to meet at the Marie Calender's in Corona. The instructions detailed that I
was to "take the 91 to Riverside
and get off on Main Street." So I took the 91 all the way to Riverside
and couldn’t find a Main street. I
didn’t realize that Corona
was a
town on the way to Riverside. I was supposed to take
the 91 toward Riverside
but get off on main in Corona. Silly me.
I was
thankful that the mistake gave rise to some significant
reflection. I
sometimes think in terms of “passing
through this world on the way to heaven.” I love living for eternity, walking in the shadow of
Christ's second coming, longing for heaven. I cherish
what Paul wrote..........
Phil 3:19-21
"But
our citizenship is in heaven. And
we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who,
by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control,
will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious
body."
Yes-----headed to heaven. However, I don’t want
to miss any divine appointments on the way. I
almost missed an appointment in Corona because my mind was on the
"to" destination of the highway beyond. So,
I’m thinking more about traveling heavenward,
watching for
stops and key “moments” on the way. I
don’t want my urgency for getting to the destination cause
me to miss anything on the way
heavenward. Father, help me to be salt and light
today as I live postured forward.
