What began as a class project
has become a hobby, and we........
Mission Mexico
Here is a view of the Bible Camp in Rio Chico where we helped
to build some new apartments. These dwellings will be used to house
people from the Indian tribes of Copper Canyon. They will be taught
a trade, taught about the Good News of Jesus, then sent back to their villages
to help improve life there. The camp is also being used for Bible
camps where hundreds are hearing the gospel message.
Hard work but fun!
First order of business was removing an old roof.
We also needed to remove a wall and the cement under it to redo
the foundation for the new apartments.
Messy job!
No cement truck on this job....all carried by hand.
We did manage to find some time to relax.
The camp was out of water just before we came. This truck
was used to transport water from a small pool in an otherwise dried up river
bed.....a bad drought in the area.
Kristi managed to find time for the kids!
We also made time to worship.
When we arrived on site, we discovered that one of the missionaires
living there was a gal we knew when we were in Irian Jaya (she was in 8th
grade then). It was a wonderful reunion with Denise (center).
We also took a hike to some Indian ruins down in a canyon in the
mountains.
A hike to the cross on a hill overlooking the camp was a treat.
Zachary got to use a new power tool.
On the way back, we were blessed with this cross on one of the mountains.
