Praise to
the Master Carpenter
Mark
6:3a….. "Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the
brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon?”
Kristi’s father is gifted in working with wood. He has, for
a number of years now, fashioned everything from oak toy boxes to
cherry and maple coat trees and lecterns. The time,
materials, and intense concentration required for his fine work of
carpentry would not be fully grasped for those who have not endeavored
to work with wood. The labors of a carpenter often go
unappreciated by the inattentive eye. Much of the craftman's character is hidden and
sealed with the grain. The transformation of raw materials into a
unique, hand-crafted work of art is worthy of celebration and praise in
careful appreciation of
final products.
I reflected on such things while driving home after Christmas. The saws and sanders of God's workbench crafted thankful mental prayers. Jesus is the Master Carpenter. Following Jesus means being fashioned by divine processes. May HIS masterful work in our lives, as we intentionally place ourselves in His woodshop at the altar of His workbench, not go unappreciated this year! Gen. 2:7….. "The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life” Ps 92:4…. "For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands." |
