“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”
~Psalm 119:105~ We flew to Oklahoma last week to celebrate with Colter his graduation from Army bootcamp training. We stayed in a priceline hotel near the airport, and the next morning I headed back to the airport to pick up a rental car to get us out to Fort Sill. The rental car agency upgraded me to a fancy new set of wheels with all kinds of frills. As I sat for the first time in the driver’s seat trying to figure out operation details of the vehicle, I noticed a button on the rearview mirror that aroused my curiosity. So, I pushed the button. Almost immediately, a lady’s voice broke the silence, “Onstar, may I help you find your destination?” Surprised, I simply admitted to the voice, “Ahhhh, I just got into this rental car and pushed an interesting button, and I’m not sure what to say right now.” She laughed, almost for an awkward length of time. Then she asked kindly where I wanted to go and downloaded directions that talked me through every turn to take for arrival. I still had to drive the car, but it was fun to have such a clear voice guiding the path. Since life is a series of living illustrations flashing by for me, I reflected on the beauty of God’s Word as His On Star to light our way. Reading and meditating on His Word and hearing His guiding voice are much more fulfilling than the push of a button. Taking steps of obedience out of love for Him makes for an exciting journey, a great adventure along the way to a glorious destination. “And we have the word of the prophets made
more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining
in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.”
~2 Peter 1:19-20~ “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.” ~Revelation 22:16~ “After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.” ~Matthew 2:9-11~ =========
