I was talking
with Zach (our youngest son) on the phone recently.
He was on an infantry training mission on
some mountain in Southern California where he was able to get
a cell signal. I was giving
him a phone number to write
down so he could contact one of his friends, and I could tell he was
beginning
to shift the phone and fumble around, accented by his words….. “shoot.”
Then, “Ah,
nuts.”
I could tell he was just a bit distraught about something.
I responded appropriately, Zach, what’s wrong? He
explained, “I dropped my
pen cap, it’s dark, and I lost it.” I
laughed. Stress over a pen cap hit
my funny bone,
especially since Zach never gets stressed out. “But
dad, you don’t understand. Those things
are hard to acquire in the
field.”
I sometimes
take for granted the simple, common, and seemingly unnecessary things
(like pen
caps) in my world. Yet I
realize that in
some circumstances and environments, the simple might be the important. The unnecessary in some situations might be
the critical in other circumstances.
I trust
that God is providing all you need in
Christ where you are today.
Phil 4:19-20
And my God
will supply all your
needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Now to our God
and
Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
