Quiet Time
“The mountains melt beneath him and
the valleys split apart,
like wax before the fire,
like water rushing down a slope.” (Mic 1:4)
We were sharing in a great time of prayer with good friends this week, on
their outside deck, with the afternoon sun contributing warmth and brightening
the day. As we prayed, we could hear the dripping water from the melting
snow. The cold is being replaced by a new season. The ice is melting away.
The winter silence is being interrupted once again by the sights and sounds
of new life.
I love that about prayer. A quiet time with God is an intimate, face-to-face,
heart-to-heart relational connection with God through the Son, Jesus Christ.
It’s a time for the Word of God to speak warmth into the heart. It’s a time
for God to thaw the cold places of our souls, like the melting snow from
the mountains of challenge, ushering forth living water that wells up unto
eternal life (John 7:38), like water rushing down a slope.
I hope that your times of prayer this week are warm with the intimate presence
of the Father you love. I hope that He is speaking to you and bringing warmth
to the soul as you read His Bible. May the mountains melt before you and
may His living water refresh you….and those around you.
“The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the
Lord of all the earth.
The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all the peoples see his glory.” (Psalm 97:5-6)
