We recently took some friends
to Redding’s Sundial
Bridge,
a major tourist attraction here in California. As we walked along, we noticed a man with his
ear pressed against one of the long cables, tapping on it.
He had a huge smile on his face.
We watched him tell his
friend to try it, and the friend got all
excited. We veered over that
direction
to investigate. We asked them, “What’s
up over here?” They
invited us,
with excitement, to put our ears on the
cable and tap on it. We did,
and the
sound produced by tapping on the cable with a fixed ear was like
musical chords
the likes of which I had never heard. It
was like a star wars harp sounding a note from heaven and back. The thrill of it was contagious. We spread the news to some nearby kids,
who
soon had their friends and family checking out the discovery. It was a joyous
moment…..especially when we
started to talk about the parallels with the gospel.
Isn’t that the way we should be spreading the
greatest good news of all time? With
joy and wonderment at the thrill of it all, a discovery we have to pass
on in
contagious fashion……Jesus is. So, to the Son Dial in.
Ps 9:1-2
I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of
all your wonders.
I will be glad and rejoice in you; I
will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
Ps 71:15-16
My mouth will tell of your righteousness, of your salvation
all day long,
though I know not its measure.
I will come and proclaim your mighty acts,
O Sovereign LORD;
Ps 105:2-3
Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful
acts.
Glory in his holy name; let the
hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Ps 145:6
They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds.
Ps 145:11-12
They will tell of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might,
so that all men may know of your mighty acts
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
