I’m thinking about having my
feet fitted for readiness
today. Putting on the full
armor…the belt
of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with readiness,
the
shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of Spirit, and
prayer in
the Spirit. (Ephesians 6:10ff)
The touchdown at the airport in Pittsburgh
to visit my parents was a bit rough. At
landing, a shoe came sliding down the aisle on the plane.
All the way from the 10th
row. It was funny. Definitely a shoe belonging to a
particular
lady, but not readied or fitted well upon her foot.
Circumstances put it out of reach.
She was ready in many other ways, seat belt
fastened and set back in the upright position and
tray in place. But
at
landing her feet were not fitted with readiness.
It reminded me of being always ready in Following
Christ. As per the instructions of
that
very first Passover…….(Ex 12:11)…..”This
is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your
sandals
on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the
LORD's
Passover. “ As written
to the
Ephesians….(6:14-15), “Stand firm then,
with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate
of
righteousness in place, and with your
feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.”
Lord, Help me to walk in peace but to walk ready to join in
the work you are doing around me.
Help me to walk with the feet of readiness today ready to
serve when and
wherever a touchdown happens this day.
