It is
hunting season in Montana.
While watching a high elevation meadow where the elk
had been
feeding, I was reading Psalm 19 and thinking about how the heavens
declare
the glory of God. The psalmist wrote that God has
pitched
a tent for the sun, and it rises in one end of the heavens
and makes
its circuit to the other. As I reflected on that passage, I
took
note of how things change as the sun makes it's course over
a few hours. I noticed in the meadow that as the sun
moved
across the sky, things took on different shapes, the colors shifted,
shadows
disappeared in one place and showed up in another, and new
things appeared as the rays of light set upon them. That
is our
place in life right now.
The
sun has set on our ministry in Montana,
and we are anticipating by faith a sunrise
of
new ministry at the Grace
Memorial Community
Church in Cumberland, Maryland,
the home of my birth and the community where my parents
live. As the
sun set in the west, we are faithfully following the course of the SON
to
a horizon full of new light, new life, and
new relationships. We know that
the rays of God's Grace are going to shine in new places. We are
praying
God's blessings upon those we left and those we will meet, that
the warmth
and radiance of the Son will be realized in new ways, from one end
of the
heavens to the other.
