THE UPLOOK
“He made the curtain of blue, purple
and crimson yarn and fine linen, with cherubim worked into it.” (2 Chron
3:14)
Wow, the skies sure have been blue lately haven’t they? Like a glorious curtain
declaring the coming of spring . The blue sky provides a stage for the sun,
whose warming rays will usher forth new, fresh life.
Blue is one of the three primary colors of light. During Bible times, material
was dyed blue for tabernacle tapestries, for hangings in the Temple, and
for clothing worn by royalty and the rich. It can easily be embraced as a
royal, rich color, for the heavens declare the glory of God (Psalm 19). The
skies proclaim the marvelous work of His hands. The blue above shouts of
the covering and the blessing of the almighty, royal, glorious creator.
I’m reflecting on that as I look up today.
By the way, did you know that a buzzard can be imprisoned by putting a short
fence around it? The bird has to get a running start in order to fly, so
even a small fence can make it a captive.
People are much more beautiful than buzzards, but in some regards we
are much the same. Looking up is the only escape from problems and temptations.
Whatever fences tend to keep us from flying, the answer is always to look
up. To look up is to gain access to God’s perspective. To look up is wisdom.
Looking up is the way to soar above the circumstances.
Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, faith looks up. Don’t miss looking
up to enjoy the blue sky, the sun which makes its circuit across it, and
the glory of God displayed!
“They are to take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand that is for light,
together with its lamps, its wick trimmers and trays, and all its jars for
the oil used to supply it.” (Num 4:9)
