“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,  and in his word I put my hope” (Ps 130:5).
“I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word”  (Ps 119:147).

Our kids just bought a house in Baltimore, which involved  quite a load of paperwork.  Contracts and agreements,  disclosure statements and promises made, documents designed to protect buyers and sellers.  Even with all the signatures,  they have encountered deception and tricks from several sources.  It seems that even with all the paperwork designed to assure fair deals, people can still manage to take advantage of good will…..have you experienced that?   The injustices of it?
The first shower taken in their new home brought water through the ceiling of the downstairs living room.   The plumbers say the whole bathroom was built wrong and needs completely redone.   They are also having trouble getting their deposit from their previous apartment.  You can’t always take people at their word or trust their good intentions these days.
It reminded me of a wonderful blessing at the opposite end of the spectrum during our apartment search when we first moved to Lewistown, Montana, a few years ago.    After looking at a  sweet apartment we said we’d take it.   I inquired of the apartment manager, “What do we need to do to secure the place?   Deposit?  Rental contract?  Credit check?  What paperwork do we need to fill out?”   Taking his hand from his chin and adjusting his hat, he said, “You want it?   Let’s shake hands and it’s a done deal.”  His word was good enough.
That’s rare in our world but not in God’s Kingdom.   God ALWAYS keeps his word, and His word is good enough.  We are assured of His faithfulness and His promises are secure.  His word is solid.    SO………

*I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength (including extending forgiveness to those who take advantage of us).  (Phil. 4:13)

*We are more than conquerors in Christ our Lord.  (Rom. 8:37)

*Nothing can separate us from the love of God . (Rom. 8:39)

*He will never leave you nor forsake you. (Deut. 31:6)

*My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  (Phil. 4:19)

Father, thank you for the promises in your Word.  Thank you that you keep Your word.  Help me to do the same.

“Your word, O Lord, is eternal;  it stands firm in the heavens”  (Ps 119:89)
