Jesus IS the Way Wisdom is a theme that has been resonating with me
lately. Wisdom isn’t just about having the right sense to make good decisions,
it is about the ability to take each step in the center of God’s will. For
me, to have wisdom is to be able to see God’s perspective on the circumstances
of life and move forward in the practice of His presence. When I feel the
pain of the Haitian people and I pray and give, when sadness about people
being in bondage to anger creates empathy that fuels the flames of prayer,
when encountering the ugliness and evil of our world forces me to my knees…..I
believe I’m tapping into wisdom, connecting with the heart of God.
John 1:1 identifies Jesus as the Word, the living Wisdom of God. He is the way and the truth and the life (John 14:6). A few weeks ago, cross country skiing, I took a fall because I got knocked off track by a low-hanging branch. It’s easy to get knocked off course by something you didn’t see coming. Yet, what a thrill to get quickly back on the path because Jesus IS the Way. It’s not about me, it’s about Him. To embrace that is to tap into the wisdom of God. “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Cor. 10:3-5) |
