1 Cor 11:1-2----- “Follow my
example, as I follow the example of Christ. I praise you for remembering
me in everything and for holding to the teachings, just as I passed them on
to you.”
John 10:27---- “My sheep listen to my voice;
I know them, and they follow me.”
I was following a line of cars in downtown Honolulu. Sometimes it’s
easier to follow the flow of traffic than to concern yourself with the over
stimulation of road signs and lane warnings. The previous night, driving
on the same route, I had noticed a warning sign declaring
“bus lane only.” I wasn’t sure how important that sign was.
We don’t have them in Lewistown. So, I kept following
those cars in front of me anyways. Maybe there were only certain
hours when “bus lane only” was in effect. Maybe it was just an
encouragement and not a prohibition. It didn’t take long
to discover the real meaning of the sign….it meant what it said.
The whole line of cars came to a place where a policeman had his lights
on and motioned for each one of us to pull over. We were all in the
wrong lane. It doesn’t matter if everyone is doing it.
It’s still the wrong lane. We were given a warning by an
officer who accepted our repentance as those new to big city navigation.
Lord, help me to hear your voice
and follow your warnings with a committed and obedient heart, avoiding
the flow of many going the wrong way!
