    Big Bang Shine

    ~Video Version~

    ------------------------------------

    Matthew 5:14-16

"You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.  No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

We were in a place recently where the stars of the night sky were absolutely amazing.  We talked about how far away some of those stars were.  We can’t even fathom the distance--- and the expanse of the universe.

It reminded me of a conversation with an astronomer I met,  who told me about new discoveries indicating that the furthest stars in the universe, which, in light of the Big Bang Theory,  should be slowing down due to gravitational forces,  are actually speeding up.

What a fascinating thing to consider.    That should not be happening.  From what I understand regarding the laws of physics, the increasing momentum could only be possible if there is some force causing it or some vacuum of decreasing resistance into which they are moving.   Maybe  it is both.

Modern astronomers are referring to it as a mysterious force called dark energy that is expanding the universe.

We know there is a dark energy in the world, but God’s kingdom of light is moving into it with increasing speed! It is like the stars are speeding toward the outermost  darkness of the universe in order to illuminate it.   It’s like they are increasing their momentum to reach further into the expanse of the darkness.   Some driving force is sending them further away with increasing  intent into places where emptiness abounds but resistance is losing ground.

The driving force is our Creator God!  It is the heartbeat of GOD for people lost in darkness that moves us.  That’s why we let our light shine and it’s why we support missionaries who go to distant places. I’m praying YOUR light will shine today.
