    Eagles' Wings

    ~Video Version~

    ------------------------

    Today I’m chewing on this verse in Exodus 19:4---"You know how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself.”    God has just brought the people out of slavery and across the Red Sea to freedom, and they were learning how to trust Him for strength in the journey.

    An encouragement for us, in the words of the prophet, Isaiah 40:31, “…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

    I can think of many times I felt out of strength or I was walking with a limp and God carried me or gave me the strength to press on, to soar on wings like the eagle.

    Kristi and I were walking with friends in the downtown area of a big city.     As we passed an expensive hotel, we noticed  a  bird hopping around inside the lobby.  His limp indicated an injury.   We stopped to open the glass doors, trying to help the poor creature.   We expected him to hop out  toward freedom.   He surprised us, however, when he took one look at the open door and flew with every bit of energy he could muster into the freedom of flight.  I can imagine a smile on his beak, a joyful face as he zoomed by, from captivity to release.

    I was reminded of a song we used to sing based on Ps 124:7-8…….

    We have escaped like a bird

    out of the fowler's snare;

    The snare has been broken,

    and we have escaped.

    Our help is in the name of the LORD,

    the Maker of heaven and earth.

    For Reflection/Discussion:

    • Is there anything causing you to limp?
    • Who in your sphere of influence is limping?    Pray for an open door.
    • What obstacles are you facing through  which you need an opened door?
