  Fruit Trees

  I think God must like trees.  There are so many of them in His creation.

  Some of them beckon you to look up and admire their majestic growth, declaring the glory of God as they sway in the wind and accent the blue sky.

  I like the way they grow in groups, supporting each other.

  Some of them invite you to climb them.

  Some of them are great to build things out of, or cross rivers on, or just admire their beauty.   Some of them invite you to eat their fruit.

   

  The Bible has something to say about trees, the very first Psalm for one example.

  Psalm 1:1-3

  Oh, the joys of those who do not

  follow the advice of the wicked,

  or stand around with sinners,

  or join in with mockers.

  But they delight in the law of the Lord,

  meditating on it day and night.

  They are like trees planted along the riverbank,

  bearing fruit each season.

  Their leaves never wither,

  and they prosper in all they do.

   

  Those are words worth thinking about today, roots that bring forth new life and fruit.  That is a great picture of the Jesus follower, planted by living water, growing  roots in the nourishment of His Word, producing fruit that blesses the world around us.

  I pray your life is fruitful today, with the fruit of the Spirit.  May love, joy, and peace be abundant in the hours ahead of you.
