Lost & Found

------------------------------------
Good friends of ours were telling me about they day they lost their son at the beach. When they weren’t looking, apparently their boy began running up the beach and suddenly they didn’t know where he was. They searched and searched, put every bit of energy into the search, doing everything they possibly could to find him. Can you imagine how terrifying that would be for a parent?
After an hour, which is a really long time to feel the weight of that do everything or die search, they finally found him playing in the waves.
He had gone a long distance away from them. As they were sharing that story, I thought about how I had run away from God for a long time, for a long ways, but I know He continued to pursue me. There was such joy in being found by the Father.
When our friends found their son, you can imagine the celebration.
I’m thinking of this story of the prodigal son in Luke 15 this morning. He was found. In the words of Luke 15:24, “…for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.' So the party began.”
That great story is on the heals of these words in Luke 15:10, “In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God's angels when even one sinner repents."
I hope you are able to celebrate today that God is really good at finding lost children and celebrating when they turn toward him.
