    Psalm 150

    ~Video Version~

    ------------------------------------

Praise him with the clash of cymbals,

    praise him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

    Praise the Lord  (Ps 150:5-6)

These final words closing the book of Psalms----praise.  The invitation is encouraging, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!”

For me it’s easy to imagine the sound of a stream or the trees in the wind or birds making  a joyful sound….but it can also happen in a noisy city.

As we walked in Times Square (New York City) on vacation, we heard the beautiful sound of a gifted percussionist somewhere in the crowd ahead.  We were inspired to march forward toward the increasingly bright tempo.   As we drew near,  I expected to see a man  on  a full drum set skillfully making the beautiful beat.

As the scene came into view, I was amazed when I observed a man sitting along the sidewalk playing not on drums but on improvised instruments.  There were several different sizes of old buckets and containers, things that would have been perceived as trash items to some people were being used to make a beautiful sound.

God redeems.  He even redeems trash from the past or broken things we’d like to dispose of.  Some things should remain buried in the dump, but other elements of our past life can be redeemed for ministry to others.   God can illustrate redemption in very creative ways.  He can use our hands to redeem junk and make it something beautiful to the praise of His glory.

I thought about that for awhile as we walked on.   Whatever is around you, let God redeem it.  Make a song to the glory of God.   Let everything in your reach be used for the praise of our King!  Praise the Lord.  When you want to have the last word, PRAISE is a good one, just like the ending of the Psalms.
